Destination: Indonesia – Mount Anak Krakatau – Volcano Warning

Issued 8 September 2026

Indonesia’s Mount Anak Krakatau, an active volcano in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, experienced significant volcanic activity from 4 September 2026.

The eruption produced volcanic ash clouds which affected airport operations in Indonesia, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. Although the most intense period of activity has eased, further eruptions and ash-related travel disruption remain possible. This event is now considered to be a Known Circumstance.
