In early March 2026, conflict in the Middle East escalated rapidly. Airspace closed, travel plans fell apart, and for many Australians in the region, getting home became uncertain.
So we acted.
PassportCard evacuated customers from the region and coordinated their journey home – safely and quickly.
War is almost always excluded under travel insurance policies. It’s excluded in ours too. But when the situation deteriorated, we didn’t wait for claims or expect customers to navigate it alone.
We identified every customer in the region, called them directly, and asked one simple question: Do you want help getting out safely?
We’ve since been asked how we moved so quickly. Our Chief Customer Officer, Matt Murdoch, explains what happened behind the scenes.
As far as we know, we’re the only Australian travel insurer to have proactively repatriated customers during this crisis.
Because when crisis strikes, being there for our customers isn’t just a promise – it’s what we do.
