Staff Travel Diaries – Aleesa’s Icelandic Adventure

14/04/2026

At PassportCard, we’re travellers first. We help support people during their adventures, but we also love living them, so we’re launching our Staff Travel Diaries series.

We’re going “behind the desk” to see where our team has been exploring.

First up is Aleesa Cuthbert, our Customer Support Specialist, who recently swapped the office for an Icelandic adventure.

The Highlight: A Trip to Another Planet

If you’re heading to Iceland, Aleesa says there is one non-negotiable stop: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.“It was a super long drive from Reykjavik and back, but so absolutely worth it. I genuinely felt like I was on another planet.”

The Icelandic Palate

Icelandic cuisine is known for being unique, and Aleesa didn’t shy away from the local flavors.

  • The Meal: A Reindeer burger (Verdict: “Actually really nice!”)
  • The Drink: A Rhubarb cocktail, a refreshing, delicious drink.

Aleesa’s Pro-Tips for the Road

  1. Forget the exit row. Aleesa swears by the very back row. Why? You can recline your seat to your heart’s content without the guilt of squishing the person behind you. It’s a game-changer for long-haul comfort.
  2. One Thing She Always Packs (Besides Insurance!) While we’ll always tell you to pack your travel insurance, Aleesa’s must-have is much more “hands-on”: Moisturizer. “Trust me, your skin is not built for other climates. You will need it.”

From Bucket List to Reality

Iceland is a dream destination for many. Have you ever visited the Glacier Lagoon, or is it still on your bucket list?
